you should follow the books in regularly also you can try for long type question.

You can refer the following books-

3. Modern UGC NET/SLET:Computer science by A team of Experts

Don't believe in Guides... Try to refer standard referance books....

For objective type paper, try to solve as much GATE papers as possible.
