Re: How should I become a Pilot? Where is the course available?
Before I write down the procedure of becoming pilot let me point out that the entire course of becoming commercial pilot is quite expensive. The total cost of the course will be around 10 to 15 Lakh. Only apply for the course if you can afford this amount.
Although the course is quite expensive, it is worth the money. The salary of commercial pilot is good. It comes with additional perks that makes this profession very attractive. Various airlines in India such as Air India, Indigo, EasyJet etc pay good salary to the pilots. Eligibility 1. You should complete 12th standard with PCM subjects. 2. 50 percent marks in 12th board are required. 3. Age should be between 18 to 30 years. 4. The minimum height to become pilot is 5 feet. 5. The vision of the candidate should be 6/6. 6. You are allowed to correct the vision but only through glasses. 7. You should not have any fears of height. Procedure Student’s Pilot Licence The first step is to obtain Student’s Pilot Licence. There is no flying involved in obtaining this licence. After completing 10th standard you can appear for a written test and upon clearing you will get the licence. It will be a mathematic test on various aspects of the aircraft. Private Pilot Licence You must have completed 12th and obtained the student's licence to get Private Pilot Licence. You will be taught to fly a plane by the instructor in this step. You will have to gain 40 hours of flying with instructor and 20 hours of solo flying. After which there will be a written test. Upon clearing it you will get the Private Pilot Licence. Commercial Pilot Licence This is the last step and the most expensive. After this step you can apply for job of pilot in any airline. There will be a need to gain 250 hours of solo flying experience. Along with that there will be series of written tests followed by the medical test to get Commercial Pilot Licence. |
