If you have registered for the Common Proficiency Test, than you may take the test either in the month of December 2012 or thereafter. So, if you are willing to take the test in 2013 , you can definitely do so.
Now, as far as the Registration Detail is concerned, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is supposed to sent you a letter of registration containing your registration detail including the Registration Number.

The registration details is usually sent within two to three months from the date of registration, however, it may be delayed for certain reasons and if it happens, you may contact the Regional Council/Branch through which you have registered for the Common Proficiency Test.

i join june 2009 ca cpt course but my validity period is over so how renewal of my registration no for come the december 2012? please tell sir/ madam

and not issue for registration letter by post but i can not received my registration number
