Prospect of Biotechnology in India is good.
Particularly of Red and White biotechnology. Slight problem is that it in an emerging field in India, and any emerging field requires some time and man effort for its foothold. Dont worry both government as well as private sectors are investing crores to make the infrastructure more well and attacting. You will surely get good job after completing you course, now just focus on your studies and score well in your semesters it will help you lot in getting good job. best of luck |

Re: Job prospects after B.tech-M.tech (biotech)?
if your college is a reputed one then there is no problem of getting placed to an firm.....
but if it is not the case then it will be better for you if you go in further studies in the field ....as the biotechnology is not one of the best field .....so the more you get deeper you will find job easily...... now the situation is that scientists want to evolve the field a lot but as it requires a lot of infrastructure ..... posts are vacant for higher ranks only and they are prominent..... the field has larger scope in developed countries ....... best of luck |

Dear All,
Jobs in patent law can be an interesting career option for science and technology graduates. If you've got a technical degree but don't know how to use it, take a look at what a role in intellectual property can offer. You can become a Patent Analyst.... |

If you still want to join the Ph.D try to get in to the CDFD, IISC or NCBS like research institutes which can be better for your Ph.D All the Best !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Re: Job prospects after B.tech-M.tech (biotech)?
students should take up non research application based assignments only after their PhD or post -doctoral thesis. They can choose from a wide variety of specializations: agricultural research, immunology, virology, protein engineering etc. There is a growing demand for people with a higher degree of specialization. It is also important to have right degree from right institute for best opportunities in the industry.
The biotech sector alone employs over 25,000 scientists. Coupled with pharma this number has quadrupled in the last three years with the growing importance of R&D.The goal is to generate one million scientific and engineering jobs in the pharma-biotech sector by 2010. The students alternatively can take degree in law, management or journalism after a bachelor's or masters in biotechnology. There is a pressing need for intellectual property rights and trade mark specialists along with corporate communication and sales personnel. Private companies find it useful to employ someone with a background in biotechnology to comprehend and communicate complex technical issue Top 20 Public Biotechnology Universities / Colleges in India School of Chemical & Biotechnology, Sastra University Department of Biotechnology, School of Bioengineering, SRM University Department of Biotechnology & Bioinformatics, Jaypee University of Information Technology Department of Biotechnology, Jaypee Institute of Information Technology Amity Institute of Biotechnology, Amity University Department of Biotechnology, The Oxford College of Science Department of Biotechnology, R V College of Engineering Department of Biotechnology, Shoolini Institute of Life Sciences and Business Management Department of Biotechnology, Shri M. & N Virani Science College Department of Biotechnology, PES Institute of Technology Department of Biotechnology, Kumaraguru College of Technology Department of Biotechnology, Bannari Amman Institute of Technology Institute of Biotechnology & Allied Sciences, Seedling Academy Department of Biotechnology, Kamaraj College of Engineering and Technology Department of Biotechnology, Arunai Engineering College Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Avinashilingam University for Women Department of Biotechnology, Acharya Institute of Sciences Department of Life Sciences, Reva Institute of Science & Management Department of Biotechnology, Gokaraju Rangaraju Institute of Engineering and Technology College of Biotechnology & Allied Sciences, Allahabad Agricultural Institute |

Re: Job prospects after B.tech-M.tech (biotech)?
It is better that you chose a dual degree program for biotechnology , which automatically eleminates the need of gaining any additional degree. Now you should try only for jobs .
In india and abroad as well, there are many healthcare centres , hospital where a trainee is required for doing technical work , you can apply in that. It is possible that i am pointing towards a big domain , but putting this in view you can refine your google results. |
