Career in Actuary/Actuarial science

What is Actuarial science?

Basically it is a subject with perfect combination of MAthematics, statics and Econometrics.

What about Actuary?

It is an Expert who applies Mathematical, statistical and little economics for assesment of financial and risk in the field of Insurance, Finance and investment.

What about Career?

Traditionally Actuaries work with Life Insurance Companies, but their importance lies also in Finance and Investment Companies. Designing a Scheme of Benefits, Product design, quantifying the risk and the amount of investment returns available in the market, Analysing the risk in whole financial aspects etc. are works of Actuary.


They generally works in Insurance, Stock Exchange, Investment and Finance companies.


One can expect a starting income of 8,00-15,000/month depending upon his work and qualification. But it is also said by experts that Actuaries are one of the highest paid professionals in the world, a freshly qualified actuary is likely to receive an average pay of around $ 70 thousand per annum in UK/USA and Rs.18 lacks in India. As a trainee the students can expect their stipend to start at Rs.50 thousand per month in India. But this can only be achieved if that course has been persued from best institutes of India.

my date of birth is 5 july 1993. am i eligible for admission in IAI MUMBAI?

please tell me the admission procedure of institute of actuaries of india ? does it offer dist. learning program?

can anyone not having math's background can pursue actuarial science course?

am pursuing my m.sc.acturial science. wat are the skills i should develop to get a good job. Is clearing a papers is must or not.

Is there any entrance exam for me if i am not completely aligibale for this course? If yes so pls give me the details of that and what whould be the fee of entrance exam?

Actuary is a financial expert who applies mathematics and statistics methods for assessments of financial and other related areas.

Eligibility for Acturial Science

1. 10+2 in any discipline with at least 85% marks in Maths or Statistics.

2. Any Graduate with 55% marks in Maths /Stats/Econometrics/Computer Science.

3. Engineers are eligible also.

4. MBA in finance /CA/CMA/MCA/CFA
