The information provided in the mail is absolutely wrong. Most of the research institutes DO NOT conduct any UG course, they conduct higher level courses begining from PG level.
Second, without learning Physics no one will understand Astrophysics. That is why no college/ university can award UG degree in pure Astronomy & Astrophysics. A few universities are there who provide to opportunity to study Astronomy & Astrophysics at UG level, but there the main subject is Physics. So there is no shortcut way (however, in abroad Astronomy is a very popular subject, different types of courses are offered in colleges/universities) !!! If you are really interested, the best way is to get admitted in BSc Physics course at first, Then pursue MSc course in Physics/ Integrated PhD course. After MSc appear in the national exams. At few universities Astronomy & Astrophysics is taught as special paper. During this period what you should participate in Summer schools organized by different summer schools to get the flavour of Astronomy & Astrophysics. Quote:
