Is Mathematics necessary for doing Genetic Engineering at graduate level?


My son is in 10th from ICSE Board. Which subjects should be taken in 11th and 12th for pursuing Genetic Engineering at graduate level? Is Mathematics compulsory? Please guide as he is average in Mathematics.

Mathematics is not a compulsory subject if he has to pursue his degree in Genetic Engineering. Biology, Chemistry are must. But if he takes Mathematics then it is added advantage to aquire analytical skills.

No Mathematics is not compulsory for pursuing Genetic Engineering. He must have Biology, Physics and Chemistry as main subjects though, with a minimum of 60% in aggregate.
