Hi rayan,

Definitely M.Tech(CSE) will be the better option.

see, Syllabus of CSE cotains Hardware + software part, while Syllabus of IT mostly concerned with Software side, as you know because you are already studying there.

Another thing is as you are studying IT, so in masters why not to study wider field that what you have studied in B.Tech.

so,go with the CSE.

For any other query, please post it here.

best of luck

regards.

M.Tech (IT) Vs M.Tech (CSE)

It completely depends on you and your interest that in which stream you want to pursue your career..

If you are thoroughly confused and don't have any idea which way to go then i would suggest you that you rather go with Computer Science Engineering than Information technology because in the current market, the IT industry is almost gone and there is scarcely any need for the IT professionals so better to make your M.Tech worth the effort..

Moreover, the course of Computer Science consists most of the parts which are covered in IT so if you take up CS then you will be having knowledge of CS as well as IT..

For admission to good M.Tech colleges, you need to crack GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering)

For more info on GATE..Click Here

I have attached a few past papers of GATE CSE for your reference..

Go through them and i hope they will help you out in your preparations..

all the best..

With Warm Regards

Hello Friend,

You should go with CSE. Because you have completed your graduation and now its you PG part. Here, you must gain something extra, which helps you to make yourself much better in the industry.

If you choose M.Tech(IT), no doubt it's just concerned to your previous trade but with this you'll get only software knowledge but not any hardware or networking kind. As you know IT is the most challenging industry where everyone has great talent in his hand but you should have something special which reflect you more.

Here, your extra knowledge will help you a lot. M.Tech(CSE) provides you various further streams for doing jobs. All the departments will be open for you.

But one thing you must kept in mind that if you have interest in software development only then there's no need to choose the option of M.Tech(CSE). You should go for M.Tech(IT) for this. And yes, must do some certification for better future.

Like :

1. Java

2. Android

3. .NET

4. C#

In case of networking, you join CCNA.

For DBMS, you can join the course of DBA.

Take your decision by your own. Wish you all the very best.
