Civil Servies Examinations in India(UPSC) is divided into two parts i.e. priliminary & main
Preliminary examinations (Prelims) The prelims are held around May-June.It has objective i.e multiple choice questions. There are two papers (duration of each being 2 hrs). a) General studies b) Optional subject you can choose from Psychology, Sociology, Philosophy, Agriculture, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, StaIistics etc.Important: It is not compulsory to choose the same subjects of your graduation. The main written examination usually takes place in Oct-Nov. Duration of each paper is 3 hrs. Language: one of the Indian languages, English, Essay GK and Current Affairs: 2 papers on general studies Optionals: papers from two subjects that fall in optional-1 and two papers from optional-2 (a choice of subjects is listed by the UPSC in the prospectus) Candidates who are successful in the main examinations are eligible for an interview which plays a crucial part in the selection. |

HELLO,
the top class officers of IAS,IPS,IFS & alloyed services are selected from the exam conducted by UPSC. there are 3 stages of the exam- 1.prelims(may-exam month) 2.mains(october) 3.interview(after selection in mains) there will be aptitude test in place of optional subject in prelims next year according to UPSC. take a look at mains- 1.a language,from 8th supplementary in indian constitution.-300(max. marks) 2.english-300 3.essay-200 4.general studies-600 5.optional subject-1200 the selected candidates in mains will have call for interview.there will be 300 marks for interview.merit list will be prepared after summation of mains & interview obtained marks. |

This is the first stage of the recruitment process. you can even get new books for the preparation of the exam of the ips ..... but then for the good success in the ips exam according to me you should join or purchase any study material from any good coaching intitutes for the IPS ............ |

the syllabus for the mathematics for the IPS exam is as follows.......
(1) Linear Algebra : * Vector spaces over R and C, linear dependence and independence, subspaces, bases, dimension; Linear transformations, rank and nullity, matrix of a linear transformation. * Algebra of Matrices; Row and column reduction, Echelon form, congruences and similarity; Rank of a matrix; Inverse of a matrix; Solution of system of linear equations; Eigenvalues and eigenvectors, characteristic polynomial, Cayley Hamilton theorem, Symmetric, skew symmetric, Hermitian, skew Hermitian, orthogonal and unitary matrices and their eigenvalues. (2) Calculus : * Real numbers, functions of a real variable, limits, continuity, differentiability, mean value theorem, Taylors theorem with remainders, indeterminate forms, maxima and minima, asymptotes; Curve tracing; Functions of two or three variables : limits, continuity, partial derivatives, maxima and minima, Lagranges method of multipliers, Jacobian. * Riemanns definition of definite integrals; Indefinite integrals; Infinite and improper integrals; Double and triple integrals (evaluation techniques only); Areas, surface and volumes. FOR IPS EXAMINATION: There is a stage of Recruitment process in which there are 2 papers namely, Paper 1 General studies: In this exam you will have must study current events, Indian history of India, global and Indian geography, Indian economics and polity. You are not expected to have specialized knowledge on any subject, but a common understanding is necessary. You must know current national and international events and have detailed knowledge of history of Indian political system, society and economy. To give the IAS exam you need to be a graduate in any discipline from a recognized university.
Your age should be between 21-30 years. Go through the exam pattern and optional subjects on offer below. |
