Which subjects should I take up for mains for IAS exam? Best books to be referred?


Sir I want the complete guidance regarding how the IAS exam is going to be? How to start preparing for it? and what are the best subjects to take up for mains? what are the best books to refer? totally I need complete direction to study and crack the IAS 2013.Pls help me out.

IAS exam is conducted by UPSC in once time in year through Civil Service Exam.So you must attend in CSAT exam.

Those candidate have completed graduation degree or final year of graduation degree from recognized board are applicable for IAS exam.

But your age should be in between 22 to 30 years old.Age relaxation is provide only for SC/ST/OBC category as per govt rule.

The maximum attempts for SC/ST candidate is Unlimited. for OBC candidate it is 7 times and for general candidate it is 5 times.

Also you must be in citizen in India.

You can choose the Optional and Main subject as your strength.

choose your subject according to your strength.well it is said that IAS is easy in history,geography as compared to other subjects.if you take physics,chemistry and maths you have to go through deep concepts.however optional and main subjects is given on the website and rules and regulations are also provided on www.upsc.gov.in

current affairs books
general studies
and your subject books which you can buy from flipkart.com where u will get most rated book by users.
also see news daily so that your current affairs are regularly updated.

which optionals will be best for me to take for civils mains? I completed my B.Tech but i dont want to take Engineering subjects as optional.Please suggest me the optionals which i can prepare and for which i can get good material and will be easy to score.

IAS means Indian Administrative Service.

Every candidate appearing at the examination or who is otherwise eligible, shall be permitted four attempts at the examination
