Quote:
Talking to TOI, dean, faculty of law, A K Awasthi said: "The maximum age for a student who desires to pursue three years law is 30 years andfor five years LLB is 20 years. This would ensure that the students who join the course are serious enough and do not only want a degree.'' For the SC/ST, the age limit for three years law has been kept at 35 and for five years LLB, it willbe 22 years. "We are hopeful that the same would get the consent of higher authorities and would be applicable from July, 2011,'' said Awasthi. |

Re: Is there any age limit to pursue LLB course in India?
I've done B.com and MBA and working in IT company for 15 years. Am 43 years old now. I have a long time desire to become a Legal Advisor/consultant in companies or to have own private firm in the future. I am not interested in practicing as a Lawyer and to go to court. I want to know whether age is a constraint to enroll and study Law.

Re: Is there any age limit to pursue LLB course in India?
Yes there is age limit when applying for the LLB course in India. It wasn't the case earlier but recently Bar Council of India decided to introduce age cap for the LLB course.
The argument by Bar Council is that people who pick up the course much laters are not really serious about it. LLB is not their first choice for the career. It gives them unfair advantage over the candidates who prefer LLB as their first choice. To keep it level playing field Bar Council of India introducted age limit for both under graduation courses. Whether you apply for BA LLB or the 3 years LLB, you must meet the age limit. 5 years LLB program can be taken after 12th and therefore it includes a bachelor course. Which is why the duration is 5 years for this course. To appear for entrance exams the candidate must be 20 years old. SC/ST can apply till 22 years. On the other hand LLB is taken up after completing graduation. Today LLB course is offered by less colleges in comparison to earlier but still there are various colleges offering this course including Delhi University and Banaras Hindu University. LLB Eligibility 1. You must have graduation degree. 2. 45/50 percent marks will be required, depending on university. 3. There is 5 percent relaxation for SC/ST/PWD. 4. The age limit is 30 years for the General candidates. 5. There is relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST. |

Re: Is there any age limit to pursue LLB course in India?
As a citizen of India, don't we have the right to education...please look at other western (developed countries) where there is no age restriction for any (I mean any) course as long as he/she have gone through the pre-requisite. And by the way Mr. A.K Awasthi " since when is this happenning in India where people cared about other fellow citizen as to what he/she will do after graduation"". So please don't fix any age limit as there are so many citizens who wants to get educated and to be one there needs no age limit!!!!!!
