ye you need to have atleast basic understanding of programming though there are softwares that autogenerate the code but its always better to have a minimum knowledge and sometimes in flash you need to write action script code on your own.

yes, there are some programming in animation .
with out any programming you can not create animation.

for this you have to be a good in drawing.
& logic then you will be a good animated in animation feild.
