Is UGC NET and SET compulsory for the post of Assistant Professor?

Hi, I wish to become an Assistant Professor and tech in recognized colleges. So, do I need to write the UGC NET or SET exams? Or, can I get direct entry in any colleges? Are there any other entrance available apart from UGC NET and SET?

Those who hold PhD degree or are UGC National Eligibility Test (NET)/ SET qualified with a masters degree are eligible to apply for an assistant professor.
Do you have any question? or have anything to say?
