NEET stands for National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test. It is the common entrance test which can be given for both UG courses like MBBS, BDS and PG courses like MD,MS and so on. This exam was proposed by the Medical Council of India and Ministry of Human Resource Development.

Talking about the benefits of NEET exam right now there are about 271 medical colleges in India. I am talking about both the government and private medical colleges in India. To get a seat in any one of these colleges students on an average used to sit for more than one medical entrance exam. Prior to NEET there were about 25 medical entrance exams.

So as you can see the pressure on students was immense. Preparing for more than one medical entrance exam is always difficult. So many new exam pattern and so many new syllabus to cover. In fact the cost of the application form too is not affordable for many. It is a huge financial burden on many.

But with NEET replacing all of them this exam will work like an umbrella under which all medical college will reside. This exam will be the entry pass to those colleges. This will give the students more time to get used to the subject pattern and the syllabus of this exam. The pressure on the weak shoulders of the students will be comparatively less now.

But it should be remembered that if anyone one wants to join AIIMS then NEET is not for them. To study in AIIMS you have to give AIIMS exam which is not part of NEET exam.

The minimum qualification required to sit for this exam is that you need to be a higher secondary passed out candidate and in addition to that you need to secure 50% of marks in physics, chemistry and mathematics taken together. There is percentage relaxation for the reserved category candidates. SC/ST candidates needs to get 45% of marks in physics, chemistry and mathematics taken together.

You cannot apply for this exam unless and until you turn 17 years of age. There is upper age limit relaxation for the reserved category candidates. For SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates there is 5 years age relaxation. This exam can be given for three times. Along with that you need to get 50 percentile in NEET to qualify.

Hope this helps :-> :->
