What is called a simple society?


There is a part in Sociology question paper asking to define the concept of Simple Society. Can anybody brief me what is Simple Society?

According to Herbert Spencer

"The societies which have low division of labour and the occupational differentiation being limited primarily to birth, sex and age.

These societies lack specialized economic organization.
