Re: What is the cost of studying pilot course in India?
Cost of commercial pilot training in India is quite high. Actually its high throughout the world. There are total of 3 stages after which you will get commerical pilot licence. The entire three stages are going to cost you somwhere between Rs 15 to 20 Lakh.
However despite the high cost, thousands apply for the commerical pilot training. The reason being that you can easily make up for what you spent on education after getting the job. Commerical pilots are very well paid even in India. This despite the fact that Indian airlines are struggling financially. There are some requirements to apply for pilot training program. You should check out educational and physical criteria below and see whether you are eligible or not. Eligibility You need to complete 12th with PCM as the subjects. At least 50 percent marks in 12th board. The age limit for Commercial Pilot Licence is 18 to 30 years. Physical Requirements You should not have any disease that could hamper normal function. You should not have fear of heights. Must be able to handle the pressure situation without emotional breakdown. There should be good coordination between mind and limbs. Height: Your height should be at least 5 feet. Eyesight Your vision for one eye should be perfect which means 6/6. The other eye could have vision of 6/9 which should be correctable to 6/6. Procedure Student’s Pilot Licence Firstly you would have to apply for the Student’s Pilot Licence. The basic requirement is 10th pass to obtain Student’s Pilot Licence. You will have to appear for a Mathematical test related to Air Regulations, Aviation Meteorology and Air Navigation and Air Technical. You would need 75 percent marks to pass the test. There are currently 23 flying schools in India offering Student’s Pilot Licence. Apart from that there would be a oral examination. You will also have to get medical clearence. The medical certificate is given at only two places in India - Air Force Central Medical Establishment in New Delhi and the Institute of Aviation Medicine, Bangalore Private Pilot Licence Once you have obtained the Student's Licence you would get the first flying lesson. To obtain Private licence you would require 40 hours of flying experience with an instructer and 20 hours of solo flying experience. Your age must be 17 years and should have completed 12th to obtain Private Pilot Licence. Apart from flying lessons, you will need to appear for written examination in subjects like Air Regulations, Aviation Meteorology, Air Navigation, Aircraft Engines and Seamanship. The cost of obtaining Private Pilot Licence would be around Rs 2 Lakh. Commercial Pilot Licence For Commercial Pilot Licence you will need 250 hours of flying experience out of which 150 should be solo flying. 10 hours of intrumental flying and 25 hours of cross-country flying is also necessary for the Commerical Pilot Licence. There would be several written test on various aspects of th aircrafts. Apart from that medical test by DGCA is also mandatory before you would be granted Commerical Pilot Licence. Once you have obtained commerical pilot licence you can apply for co-pilot job in various airlines like Indigo, Air India, Kingfisher, Jet Airways etc. To do so firstly you will have to work as trainee co-pilot for 6 to 8 months with the airline.
