The major difference between B.SC Nautical Science and B.E Marine Engineering is the kind of work they are assigned. For instance Marine Engineers have to see the working of engine machinery and other machines which helps in smooth operation of ship while B.SC Nautical science officers are responsible for watch keeping duties ranging from Cargo handling to navigation to paper works, berthing and underthing operations etc. There is also a difference in the training duration between these two. Marine Engineering courses are generally long term that is for the 4 years and Nautical Science course duration is for 3 years.

Both the course has equal importance in the respective field. So, you can go for any of the courses. It has an equal weightage.
