Re: What is the difference between Manufacturing and Production
The main difference between production and manufacturing lies in the raw material availability.
In the process of production, the raw material is not procured from outside. The company engaged in production owns the raw material and after processing makes the final product. In case of manufacturing, the company procures the raw material from outside and then makes the final product. In this process raw material is converted to finished product by different processes, with the help of machines. It is a narrow term whereas production is broader term which means converting input into output. Every type of manufacturing is production but every production is not manufacturing process. |
