what is ias main optional subject ?....please tell me what is it

Indian Administrative Service Examination is conduct by UPSC and it is consider as one of the most competitive exam in India.

Eligibility Criteria For IAS


Educational Qualifications

Bachelor degree in any Discipline from recognized university

Age limits

Minimum 21 years of age and Maximum 30 years.


Some relaxation has been given to SC/ST/OBC candidates.


There are 3 stages in IAS examination process which student need to clear in order to become IAS officer.

• Preliminary Examination
• Main Examination
• Interview

Student can attempt main examination only after he/she qualify Preliminary Examination.

Preliminary Examination consist objective type questions on General Awareness and General studies , English Comprehension , General Aptitude and on Quantitative Aptitude.

Whereas in Main Examination Student can choose his/her 2 main subjects from the optional IAS subjects list and one language along with English.

This examination is of Descriptive nature.

Eligibility criteria:-

You should be complete graduation or an bachelor's degree from a recognised university.

The candidate must be a citizen of india.

Final year persuing candidates can also be eligible for this exam.

There is no required percentage to appear this exam.

Age criteria:-

IAS stands for Indian Administrative Service

A candidate must have completed their Graduation Study in any Discipline from Recognized Universities are eligible for this exam and final years of graduation degree students also eligible for this exam....

General Age Limit is 21-30 years. but there is relaxation is available for reserved category. for OBC category : up to 33 years. for SC/ST category : up to 35 years...

A candidate can apply maximum 4 attempts for General Candidate. for OBC it is Maximum 7 times. for SC/ST there is No Limit....
