Hello,
The exam of IAS consists of two phases as Preliminaries and Mains.
After getting selected in preliminaries you are qualified for the Mains. In the mains you have to select a optional subject.
I suggest select your favorite subject which you have studied earlier. As you are a science graduate so select a science subject as a optional subject.
If you select arts subjects then it will be difficult to complete or answer any answer.
So select the subject as per your interest.

Hello,
Well if you choose any arts subject then it will be difficult to complete as you are from science stream.
So it will be better to select science subject in the mains as a optional subject in the IAS exam.
So choose your interested subject for better result.

well it truly depends on you,

you need to assess the syllabus of various c=subjects you are considering

for optionals and decide which is the best for you

it may be so that science subject which you have studied is the best for

you since you have already studied them in detail and so you will have to put less

effort,

however it is possible that you choose some arts subject which draws you and

you feel more comfortable with its syllabus and total studies required.

[QUOTE=Aayjay69;693355]Is it good to take arts subjects as optionals in IAS when you are a science graduate?[/QUO i think if u are science graduate then you should have a good knowledge of science in place of arts . but if you dnt have and if you have more interest in arts then science . then you can go for arts because . Because if you dnt have interest in your subject you can not do well in that subject. so i think if your interest is in arts in place of science . then you should choose arts for optional suject

Hello,
For choosing optional subject in UPSC mains there is no compulsation to opt from graduation subjects.
It should completely depends on your comfortability that after choosing the subject you can prepare for that. There will be questions from history, geography, civics, political issues in ARTS. If you can prepare for that then, it will be good option for you. After all choice is yours. For more information on optional subjects you can visit the official site of upsc-www.upsc.gov.in
Ok, best of luck.
