Re: What is the qualification required to become a College Lecturer?
To become college lecture you will have to appear for National Eligibility Test. The NET exam is conducted by the University Grants Commission in which candidate with only post graduation degree can appear.
National Eligibility Test is central level exam. Clearing the test would get you job of lecturer in central government colleges. Another choice for you is SET exam. It is similar to NET but conducted by each state separately. You can appear for any of the two exams. The eligibility crtieria would remain the same. NET exam is conducted twice a year, June and December. If you have post graduation degree and meet all the other requirements then you can appear for the exam scheduled for December. However you will have to prepare hard to crack the exam. It is not easy to crack NET exam easily due to the stiff competition. Over 5 lakh candidates participate in the each National Eligibility Test making it difficult to crack it. Eligibility Criteria 1. Your origin should be Indian. 2. A minimum of post graduationd degree in any stream from a UGC recognized university. 3. At least 55 percent marks in post graduation. 4. SC/ST candidates need 50 percent marks in graduation. 5. Your subject for NET exam would be the same in which you completed master degree course. 6. Final year students of PG may also appear. 7. But they should be able to submit their degree within 2 years of passing NET else they will be disqualified. 8. The age limit for JRF is 28 years. 9. The age limit is relaxed by 3 years for OBC. 10. Age limit for SC/ST is relaxed by 5 years. 11. There is no upper age limit for Lectureship. 12. There is no restriction on number of attempts. |

Re: What is the qualification required to become a College Lecturer?
hello,
To become a Lecturer in College, you must have completed Masters Degree program and must have qualified the examination with nothing less than 55% marks if you belong to General Category. Candidates belonging to SC/ST category must have scored minimum of 50% marks in the same. After qualifying the Masters Degree examination with aforementioned percentage of marks, you will have to apply for National Eligibility Test. This test is conducted by University Grant Commission and those who do not qualify this test are not considered eligible to apply for the Lecturers position in any recognized university or College located anywhere in India. The National Eligibility Test is to be taken in the subject in which you have expertise and have pursued your Masters Degree program. The test is conducted two times a year by azhardon |

Re: What is the qualification required to become a College Lecturer?
hi dear,
Usually, you need at least a Master's in the subject. You'd almost always also need to have several years of successful work experience in the field. To teach at a better university, you need your PHD. |

Re: What is the qualification required to become a College Lecturer?
If you wanted to become a lecturer fifty years ago, a post graduate qualification was not necessary, but the career has become so professionalized over the past few decades that now it is nearly impossible to get a permanent lectureship without having completed a PhD. The qualifications that you will need are a good bachelor's degree (2.1 or above), possibly a masters, and for almost all disciplines a PhD in the relevant field. You do not need a separate teaching qualification, although you may be offered the chance to do one while studying for your PhD. Alternatively this may be required during your first year in the lectureship job.
