For Becoming a Sub Inspector you will have to apply for SSC CGL Exam.
For appearing in this exam you will require to meet this eligibility :-

Educational qualification :-
-->>Graduation passed in any stream from recognized university.

Marks :-

Educational qualification for SI JOB

The eligibility for Sub Inspector post is given below-

Qualification : Any graduation from a recognized university
Age limit : 21-25 years
Age relaxation : SC/ST 5 years, OBC 3 years

Physical standards :
For Men : Height - 167 cm, chest - 84 cm
For women : Height : 152.5 cm & weight - 40 kg

Number of Attempts :
Four Attempts for Open.
Seven Attempts for OBC category.

SI is the sub-inspector job post in the Police field for which post entrance exam has been conducted by the UPSC department

a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania ( Formerly
Tanganyika and Zanzibar ), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary will be admitted to the Examination provisionally but the offer of appointment will be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him by the Government of India.
