Biotechnology is one of the fastest emerging field and has a very bright future for students. Biotechnology is a field of applied biology that involves the use of living organisms and bioprocesses in engineering, technology, medicine and other fields requiring bioproducts. Modern use of similar terms includes genetic engineering as well as cell and tissue culture technologies. Biotechnology stream has a distinguished research related topics in diverse fields like agriculture, animal husbandry, pharmaceuticals, textiles, chemicals, genetics and environmental sciences. Also if you have interest in higher studies, biotechnology has a vast scope in foreign universities too. You can appear for GRE exam and go abroad for further studies in the same field. Best wishes... |

Re: What is the scope in Biotechnology?
Hi,
I think Biotechnolgy courses most people prefer to do outside india but Although people often look for study abroad programmes for studying biotechnology, the scope of biotechnology in India is also enormous. It is a field that involves engineers, biologists, and many other such professionals. According to a survey conducted by Ernst and Young, Asia is set to become a hotbed for biotechnology related research and development and India is supposed to emerge as a destination which will see a notable expansion in the biotechnology sector. The areas where biotechnology has grown in India include Bioinformatics, Agricultural biotechnology, Bio fertilizers, National Bioresource Development, Plant Biology, Marine Biotechnology and the like. There are various manners in which you can study biotechnology - like you can opt for undergraduate Biotechnology courses which includes B.Sc, B.E, B.Tech, 5-year integrated B.Tech/M.Tech) and at PG level (Msc/ M.Tech). You can also pursue specialized courses at research level.Biotechnology offers PG courses, which you can opt for after graduating in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Microbiology. After your PG, you can go in for PhD after which you can go in for Post-doctoral research. Here, we would like to mention that students usually prefer to do PhD and Post-doctoral research from abroad. All i can suggest is a good college which is Dolphin (PG) Institute of Bio Medical & Natural Sciences, Dehradun. Add: Manduwala, Near Sudhowala, Chakrata Road, Dehradun-248007, U.K. Website: www.dolphininstitute.in Ph- +91- 135 - 2694547, Ph- +91- 135 - 2694549, Mo- +91- 9927800045, 46 47, Fax: +91- 135-2694547 E-mail: [email protected] Sure there are many other colleges to choose from you can look for them in their website related to admission information. Hope this clears your query |

Re: What is the scope in Biotechnology?
for Biotechnology student there are lots of good opportunity and scope. the research filed also very much good for biotechnology student.
as you are interested to study on Biotechnology then it is better to take admission in B.Tech of Biotechnology. because every year many biotechnology engineering graduate student are recruited. in India and abroad Biotechnology is a developing subject. in future scope will be very high. i will suggest after 12th to take admission in B.Tech Biotechnology in a good institution. after completion of B.Tech go for M.Tech through GATE score. then go for either job. or if interested go for research field or teaching profession. best wishes. |

Re: What is the scope in Biotechnology?
India is known as the pharmacy of the developing world, thanks to the biotech companies/pharma majors of india.
The scope for biotechnology is aplenty, you will get goor jobs in Pharma cos. Laboraories Research Hospotals food processing industry government labs and Regularity Authorities. NGO's just quote a few:: Ranbaxy, Nocholas Piramal, Abott labs. Glaxo-smithcline. Medical officer(gov./NGOs) you can also be a lecturer. NOTE: If you get into good college the above things will make more sense, otherwise they may be a distant dream, enquire about placements and faculty before joining. |

Re: What is the scope in Biotechnology?
Biotechnology have great scope in both private and public sector.
courses are Bsc and Msc in biotechnology and B.Tech in boitechnology. I would suggest you do M.Tech, because you have a related background in Btech, so it'd be easier to continue and be done with it. And the market looks really really bright for graduates in Biotech. ndia offering good career in Biotechnology include Thapar Group, Hindustan Lever Ltd, Bivcol, India Vaccines Corporation, Indo-American Hybrid seeds, IDPL, Biocon India Ltd, National Botanical Institute, Tata Engineering Research Institute, Hindustan Antibiotics and National Chemical Laboratories. |
