what is the scope of forensic science in india??..what do they actually do??are they forensic doctors or detectives???how much is the earning???..plz reply asap..have to do a career choice!

Mostly, forensic science expert works with police department, legel agencies and investigative agencies. Apart from these departments, such experts could also join private detective egencies.
State froensic department recruits forensic professionals through public service commission. A forensic expert could find job in various branches of this field, for eg. forensic anthropology, forensic archeology etc.
As far as government agencies are concerned, a forensic expert could join IB, CBI, police force in their crime cell, forensic lab etc.
To join the CBI team, situated in delhi, you may appear for UPSC exam and be part of the team.

the present scenario of forensic science in India is very worst Because of State and Central Government Negligence the job opportunity in this fiel is very limited and previlage goes to candidate having their Postgraduation in pure science i.e. zoolgy botany chemistry physics. So in my opinin it better to be done their postgradation in pre sciences rather than forensic science.

I am working in field of forensic science since last five years at various organization but I have no stability till date. However in last year reqirtment specifically in SFSL UP, and CFSL the Forensic degree holder have recruited ,but the condition of degree holder is really worst ,the year 2010 was declared as Forensic year by MHA Government of India but there have not found as desire result because most of the directer denies to take preference to Forensic science qualified , in India condition of Forensic investigation is very worst due to lack of technical hand this is only because requirement rule not support the person those have education in Forensic science really some narrowminded Officer don,t know the importance of Forensic education and believe in old tradition.For private practice, public awareness of Forensic science is much required

this maybe hard to admit but it is true. m.sc in forensic science is a must to get into good posts. i too have done my b.sc in biotechnology and then m.sc in forensic science. and now im planning to go for dna fingerprinting as my specialization. still alot of work to be done. from my side b.sc in forensic science is useless, better to take up other subject like chemistry, biology in graduation. it will also further help u alot in your m.sc..to have a clear concept about the subject.
