If you are a class 12th or below student then you have an opportunity to take aeronautical or aerospace engineering as your graduation purpose from some university or institute if the level of IIT's.
You must prepare for IIT JEE and opt for this branch in some IIT college. You can also opt for mechanical engineering, electronics and telecommunication engineering, computer science engineering, etc to get into this career but not as much probable as for aeronautical/aerospace engineering. After that either you can directly go to NASA or first you can opt for ISRO or some other research institute. Another way is that you can appear for IIST exam and get your above qualification from there and can get directly a job at ISRO as a scientist or an engineer. After that you can get to NASA by the help of some scholarship program or some research purposes. |

Astronuat is something whose preparation starts from scrap
After college you need 3 years of related experience in your field. after degree and some experience its time to apply for astronauts positions.NASA recieces an averge of 4015 application to fill around 20 slots for every 2 years.and they call around 118 applicants from total for ASB interview based on experience potentioal motivation ability to function as team and communication skill. If applicant intersted in pilot or commandor position then instead of mission specialist then you have to go for at least 1000 hours of flight time in commant of a jet aircraft. These type of training you have to face and need to do in future that why many Many applicants do not meet medical standards while others withdraw after learning all that the job entails. After all these incidents Astronaut Selection Board chooses final candidates and pass to NASA and their decision will be final. Be prepare physically and Mentally as this not the 9-5 job which one expect but a 24 to 24 hr full dedication........ |

as you have mention that you have completed your B.tech from civil engineering but the scope pf the civil engineering is very less so to get you see in to NASA you have to some other courses related to the aeronautical engineeering many intitute are also providing the training for the aeronauticalso you can also join them.
other way to get NASA is that NASA is organising the tech fest you can also take participate into it best of luck |
