Sir, I want to know about the syllabus of Indian Administrative Services (IAS) exam. I have completed my B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering (CSE). Will this degree be helpful while preparing for IAS examination?

IAS Exam is conducted by UPSC and its officially called Civil Services Exam. This exam is conducted in three stages i.e.

• Preliminary Exam
• Mains Exam
• Personal Interview

For first stage i.e. Preliminary Exam, your B.Tech knowledge will be of least usage. As its syllabus is mentioned below.



While for Mains Exam (after qualifying Preliminary Exam), you will have to select language paper and subjects as per your interest. So, here your B.Tech knowledge in Computer Science may be beneficial. Here, you can choose that subject which should be closely related to B.Tech Computer Science.

Finally, there will Personal Interview if you qualified Mains Exam.
