I am Vivek Patil from Punjab. Please tell me
how I join Indian Army and I am 10th passed
with 70% and I am pursuing 12th Science stream.
I am crazy about joining the Indian Army
so, tell me full detail for joining the Indian Army.

To join in Indian Army after completion of your 12th standard, you need to appear in NDA examination which is conducted by UPSC twice a year. Eligibility criteria required to appear in NDA examination is mentioned below :-

1. You must be a citizen of India.

2. You must have attained the minimum age of 16 1/2 years and must not have attained the maximum age of 19 years.

3. You must have completed 12th standard or equivalent from a recognised board.

4. You must be an Unmarried Male candidate

5. You must be Physically and Mentally fit.

By qualifying the written test, you will be called for Interview and based upon your performance in both the rounds, you are finally selected in Indian Army through NDA (Indian Army) examination.

Yes, you can join in Indian Army through NDA exam.

NDA stands for National Defence Service exam. NDA Examination is conducted for 3 wings-Indian Air Force, Indian Navy and Indian Army.

The candidates who have completed the 12th standard from a recognized board or equivalent exam are eligible for NDA exam. Final year of 12th standard candidate are eligible for NDA exam.

Your age should be in between 16.5 years to 19 years. There is no age relaxation for SC/ST candidates.

Absolutely you are eligible to apply for the Indian Army with your Educational qualifications. And also you have to satisfy the Age criteria as well if you want to join in to the Indian Army . For this you have to write the NDA (National Defence Academy ) examination and according to the performance in Written and Interview you will be called for the Medical Examination.

Or else you can apply for the Indian Army through CDS but you should have to complete the Graduation from the recognized University with MPC subjects.

For NDA , you must have the Age in between 16 1/2 to 19 years and you must be unmarried male candidate.

Yes you have a eligibility criteria to apply for Indian Army with 12th qualification.There is a exam called NDA and through this you have a chance to apply for the Indian Army. That to you can apply for any of the three wings with 12th from science stream .

For Further details you can have a look at the below things and Coming to the examination pattern the selection will be based on written examination and SSB Interview.

Written Examination consists of 3 sections namely General Maths,English and General Knowledge . Each section is for 300 marks and thus total written examination is for 900 marks and SSB Interview is for 900 marks.

After your 12th , you can apply for the NDA exam to join in Indian Army.

The details of the NDA exam are given below

NDA exam :-

NDA stands for National Defence Academy

To apply for the exam ,
~ The candidate shouldhave completed 12th from a Recognised Board
~ The age of the candidate shouldbe in between 16.5 to 19 years only
~ The candidate shouldbe a citizen of India
~ The candidate shouldbe an UNMarried candidate

*** Note that , Only Male candidates are eligible for the exam .

The exam will conducts by UPSC , two times in every year.


Selection process:-

1) Written exam
2) SSB Interview
3) Medical Test

You can join Indian Army after completion of your 12th exam only.

UPSC conducts NDA exam twice a year with the name;NDA I and NDA II for recruitment in different wings of Indian Army.

NDA stands for National Defense Academy.It has three wings;

Indian Military Academy.

Indian Naval Academy.

Indian Air Force Academy.

The criteria which has to be fulfilled to get admission in NDA are following:-

-The candidate has to clear the entrance exam conducted by UPSC.

-The candidate must be a citizen of India.

-The age limit for the candidate is 16.5 years to 19 years.

-Only unmarried male candidate can apply for the exam.

-The qualification required to join NDA is 12th class of 10+2 education system from a recognized board for Indian Military Academy and 10+2 with Physics,Chemistry and Mathematics for Indian Naval Academy and Indian Air Force Academy.

-The selection process involves

*Written Examination

* Personal Interview by Service Selection Board

-The candidate should be physically fit as per the Physical Standards required to join NDA.

-The minimum height for a NDA candidate to join Indian Army should not be less than 157 cm.

-The Written exam constitutes of 2 subjects,

* Maths -300 marks

* General Ability Test-600 marks

The time duration for the written exam is 2 1/2 hours.
