Re: An MLA is a Gazetted Officer? Are they get paid extra for being Gazetted?
No, Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) is not a Gazetted Officer. They will be paid only for being MLA and they will not be paid anything as paid for Gazetted Officer. All officers belonging to State or Central Governments whose name is published in the Gazette of India are known as "Gazetted Officers". MLA is the one who is elected as a people's representative by the public for a period of 5 years. So, he does not come under Gazetted Officer category.
