Political books which can be referred to prepare for KAS Prelims and Mains are Indian polity by Basu and Indian polity by Laxmikant.

The candidate should read NCERT books of 6th, 7th, up to 12th for History, geography, polity and economy. This will help to understand better and remember things than reference book as the things are explained in a simple manner in these books.
