I am aspiring to become a District Collector. I have done MBBS and therefore wants to know if i can become a District Collector with this qualification or not?

Yes, it is possible to become a District Collector after MBBS on the condition you haven't crossed the maximum age limit to apply for Civil Services exam.

Anyone who aspires to become a District Collector has to write the Civil Services exam conducted by the UPSC.

Eligibility criteria for Civil Services exam are as mentioned below:-

-Any graduate candidate from a recognized university can apply for the exam .

-Age limit should be in between 21 years to 32 years for open category candidate , 21 years to 35 years for OBC candidate and 21 years to 37 years for SC/ST candidates.

Selection procedure consists of three stages,namely;

* Preliminary Examination

* Mains Examination

* Personal Interview.

Candidate have to pass Civil Service Exam in order to become District Collector. Candidates who complete more than 5 years as IAS officer are appointed as District Collector.

The academic requirement for Civil Services exam for becoming district collector is bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university. So after MBBS, you can apply for the Civil Services exam.

When you will clear the various stages of exam like preliminary, mains, interview, you will be selected for the IAS if you are among top ranks. Then after training and some years of service as Deputy collector, you will be posted as District collector.
