What is the age criteria to get job in a nationalised bank in India?


I worked in postal department for two years on a permanent post, then I resigned from my post. Now, I want to get a job in nationalised bank. What is age limit for me. Now, I am 28 years old.

To apply for a job in a Nationalised bank in India, you should be at least 20 years old and not more than 30 years of age. Upper age relaxation of 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ ST candidates is applicable as per government rules. You should have completed Bachelor's degree or equivalent in any discipline from a recognised university to be eligible to apply for a job in a Nationalised bank in India.

To get job in any nationalised bank you have to qualify in entrance examination conducted for recruitment as Clerk, PO etc.

The examination is conducted by IBPS or SBI. The minimum required qualification to appear for examination is candidate must have passed bachelor degree in any discipline the age limit to appear for examination varies with examination.

But, the basic age limit is between 20-30 years with relaxation in age for reserved category. For more information about examination visit at www.ibps.in or www.sbi.co.in.

First thing I would like to let you know that for getting banking jobs in nationalized banks of India you will need to qualify bank entrance examinations like IBPS bank examination and SBI bank examinations.

Also as far as you are concerned about age criteria for getting jobs in banking sector then it varies as per the post which are as given below :-

i) For the post of Bank Clerk :- your age need to lie within 20 years to 28 years.

ii) For the post of bank probationary officer :- your age need to lie within 21 years to 30 years.

iii) For the post of specialist officer :- your age need to lie within 20 years to 30 years.

Further age relaxation is applicable in each case for reserved category candidates as per the government norms.

If you have completed graduation degree from a recognized University are eligible for nationalized bank jobs in India. Your age should be in between 20 to 30 years.

Age relaxation:-

For OBC : 3 years
For SC/ST : 5 years
For PWD : 10 years
