Both the posts are different in various manners such as Specialist Officer is considered better than PO, if your qualification is B.Tech or any other specialized degree it is a plus point for you as you might use your technical expertise in the job and the post will also be very much related to your field of study.

However, when we talk about the post of a PO, you might get a good salary but will not be able to use your technical knowledge which you have acquired during your 4 years of education in B.Tech.

However, both the posts are reputed and contain a good salary package all together, now its upto you if whether you wish to opt for SO post or PO in a bank.

NOTE: If you are from any other background other than Science, you are not eligible to apply for SO post.

No, specialist officer is higher as compered to the probationary officer.

For recruitment on both the post you have to appear and qualify in entrance examination conducted by IBPS or SBI.

The eligibility to appear for examination is candidate must have passed bachelor degree from any recognised university. The age limit to appear for examination is candidate must have passed graduation degree from any recognised university.

For more information about examination visit at http://www.ibps.in or http://www.sbi.co.in

Both the job profiles are different in nature. The bank PO is the job in which one get lots of banking exposure and public dealings. You get lots of chances for promotion from the PO post; after around 15 years you have a chance to become a GM in banks. You will get lots of transfers and promotions in the PO post. But SO is the post you will be working the cities in the regional offices. The SO does not have any public contact; their main work is to setup the system and to install the software. You won’t get many chances to get promoted quickly. Salary wise both are almost same. If you are interested in banking then you can choose PO post.
