Procedure to get a job in SBI after graduation
To get a job in SBI after graduation, one should first of all track current vacancies announced by the bank. Then they can forward their online application to SBI in the prescribed form for the post for which they are eligible. They should appear for written test, group discussion and personal interview, if their application gets shortlisted.
Step I: Apply for the suitable post
Graduates can apply for the post of either Probationary Officer or Specialist Officer. There are several categories in Specialist Officer such as Information Technology Specialist Officer, Assistant Manager (Systems), Assistant Manager (Law), Manager (Law) and Medical Officer. While applying for the post of Specialist Officer, one should ensure that they possess required post qualification experience for relevant category.
To apply for the post of Probationary Officer or Specialist Officer, one should visit the official website of SBI. The guidelines for applying will be available in the official website of the bank. Scanned copy of photograph and signature is very essential for applying online. Prescribed application fee should be paid at any convenient branch of SBI. For that, applicant should download the Cash Voucher from the website. After paying the fee, they should obtain duplicate copy of Voucher from the bank which contains the details of Journal Number, Branch Name, Date of Deposit, Branch Code Number and Amount. These details should be entered into the online application form for the concerned post.
Step II: Qualify the Written Examination
There will be written examination for short listing candidates to Probationary Officer post and Specialist Officer Categories like Assistant Manager (Systems), Assistant Manager (Law) and Manager (Law). Objective and Descriptive part will be there in the written examination for both Probationary Officer and Specialist Officer. Objective type test for the post of Probationary Officer include the following subjects
- Quantitative Aptitude
- Reasoning
- General Awareness
- English Language
Seventy questions will be asked in the reasoning section and fifty questions each will be asked in other sections. Four more questions will be asked in the descriptive test.
But in the case of Specialist Officer Examination, English Language and Reasoning are compulsory in the objective part. Quantitative Aptitude may be there in this part. Descriptive part will be related to Law or Professional Knowledge. Minimum qualifying marks is there for objective part and descriptive part. Score obtained in the descriptive part will be considered for preparing the final rank list.
Step III: Qualify the Group Discussion
Group Discussion is there for the candidates who get qualified in the written examination of Probationary Officer. Here a topic will be given on the spot and candidates should express their opinion regarding that topic. It is very necessary to qualify the Group Discussion, as the final rank list will be prepared according to the score obtained in this stage.
Step IV: Qualify the Personal Interview
After qualifying the written examination for the post of Assistant Manager (Systems), Assistant Manager (Law) and Manager (Law), one should appear for the Personal Interview. This is the last stage for getting into Specialist Officer categories. Instead of written examination, only Personal Interview is there for recruiting eligible candidates to Specialist Officer Category like Information Technology Specialist Officer and Medical Officer. Therefore this stage is very crucial for getting into these Specialist Officer jobs. Personal Interview is also there in Probationary Officer recruitment after Group Discussion round. Final rank list of candidates selected for Probationary Officer post will be made as per the marks obtained in the personal interview.
