I am about to complete my bachelor degree course in the coming month. I am interested in joining Police department for job. I am having Tattoos on my body. So tell me whether tattoos are allowed for joining police department or not?

Yes, they are allowed but not basically preferred, you might be not selected on the basis of your appearance also during PI session as a Police Officer needs to be neat and clean, smart and steady.

It is no where mentioned that you aren't eligible if you have a tattoo on your body, but I would personally suggest you to to kindly get it removed, if there is an option available.

First thing I would like to clarify is Your selection into the services will be purely based upon your performance in the CSE (Civil Services Examination) Score and Rank you secure.

There is no mention anywhere by the commission that tattooed people can't give the exam or take the service.

The only phase you need to answer about is Interview or Personality test. They may ask you questions regarding the reason behind your tattooing if it's visible(Coz it's a permanent mark put on intentionally).

Even seals and marines from the American Navy and Army can tattoo.

There are only few services like I.P.S.,I.F.S (Forest) etc which demand you physical fitness for which you'll be asked to attend a physical test.
Remaining services you need to attend only medical tests. Medical tests are to test your health condition requiring X - Ray, M.R.I etc.

Sole reason to test is to know whether you are physically and medically fit to take the job. Tattoo has nothing to do with the physical and medical tests.

Hence my friend you need not worry about your eligibility. You can take the exam and through the tests. All the best

There is no such rule that tattoos are not allowed but if you have tattoos on visible parts of your body than you will be given less preference in the interview.

But i saw some officers in Maharashtra police department that they have visible tattoo. They have rights about that then others candidate also have right to take out tattoo in her body it will be applicable for selection ( during bharti).
