B.Sc Mathematics Eligibility Criteria:

• Applicant must have passed 10+2 in Science or equivalent with mathematics subject from a well recognized board of education.
• Applicants need to score at least 50% marks at 12th standard level.

Details of b.Sc Maths (Hons) course at IGNOU:

The B.Sc. Math (Hons) is one of the Bachelor Degree Program (BDP) course of IGNOU.
There are total 13 papers available (Paper code MTE1-MTE14).

Course duration: Minimum-3 years and Maximum 6 years

Eligibility: [LIST=1][*] 10+2 pass with science stream.

The medium of instruction is English and Hindi

The marks is given on the basis of Credit system. For get a bachelor degree total 96 credits are required in 3 years of course.

MTE 5 - Analytical Geometry(2 credits)

MTE 9 - Real Analysis
MTE 10 - Numerical Analysis
MTE 11 - Probability and Statics

A student is allowed to select and take 32 credit courses in each years.

The elective courses have minimum 8 and maximum 48 credit course to be selected in 3 years of degree.The elective subjects are Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Life Science, in which any one can be opted.(excluding math rest three include 25% practical marks).

Foundation course is compulsory.

Here for B.Sc Degree student must have to earn 25% of elective marks from practical exams.

For B.Sc (Major) i.e. Hons total no of credits can be taken in Mathematics is 40 credits.


Admission Duration: Both in January and in July month of admission cycles.


Fee Structure: Total -Rs. 10,500/-, (Only paid through yearwise Rs. 3500/- each year)

If you have failed in any subject, then cannot take admission further. Since, you could not clear Maths in 10+2 cannot take admission in B.Sc Math Honours. If you wish to study further, then complete clear your Maths in 10+2 & then apply for the same.

Can I do admission in B.SC. Math honours I have passed intermediate with science secured 55% marks but math was an additional subject however I have got 50% marks in math.
