Re: Doing mass communication as graduation course will benefit for qualifying IAS exams?
There is no criteria as such as to which stream and course you should avail after your 12th in order to be able to qualify Civil Service Examination.
You can choose any of the above mentioned scopes for you and can pursue your career in it. However, if you want to appear for IAS Examination you will have to prepare yourself well, it doesn't matters as to in which stream have you completed your graduation. You need to be mentally and physically prepared if you want to prepare for Civil Services. Scopes in Mass Communication: Candidates who have completed Mass Communication courses have great career opportunities in various fields like; >Research Institutes >Public Relations >Publishing and >News Media. A few job profiles for these candidates are; >Presenter >Public Relations Officer >Radio Jockey (RJ) >Feature Writer >Art Director >Editor >Floor Manager >Sound Engineer >Photojournalist >Journalist >Correspondent >TV Correspondent >Transmission Executive >Sound Technician >Screenwriter >Reporter >Proof Reader, etc. Various employment areas for them are; >Blogs >Radio Telecasting Companies >Websites >Central Information Service >Advertising Agencies >Broadcasting Corporations >Legal Affairs Department >Photography Companies >Press Information Bureau >Periodicals and Magazines, etc. Some government organizations that offer candidates who have completed Mass Communication courses are; >AIR - All India Radio >Doordarshan, etc. |

There is no particular stream to qualify Civil Service Examination. You can choose your own field of interest and can pursue your career in it.
Nevertheless, if you want to appear for IAS Examination you will have to prepare yourself well. You need to be mentally and physically ready if you want to formulate Civil Service exam. The mass communication field has more opportunities in the sectors like Research Institutes, Public Relations, Publishing and News Media. Apart from this you may also find job openings in Blogs, Radio Telecasting Companies, Websites, Central Information Service, Advertising Agencies, Broadcasting Corporations, Legal Affairs Department, Photography Companies, Press Information Bureau and Periodicals and Magazines, etc. |

The post of IAS are filled up through the Civil Services Examination conducted by the UPSC.
According to the notification released by the UPSC, the eligibility criteria is as follows : * The candidate should be a graduate under the scheme of 10+2+3 at least. * The candidate should be 21 years old at least at the time of application. There is no such subject mentioned in the notification for your graduation so you can take up any stream. |

Re: Doing mass communication as graduation course will benefit for qualifying IAS exams?
Graduation subject does not decide the eligibility for Civil Services exam.
You only need to be a graduate to be eligible for Civil services exam.Your age should be within the limit of 21-30years. It does not impacts your eligibility if you complete your graduation from Mass communication or Engineering. Just select a subject in Mains exam which you are strong at or preferably your graduation subject so that you have some basic knowledge and need not start from scratch. |

Re: Doing mass communication as graduation course will benefit for qualifying IAS exams?
There is not any such criteria for selection of a particular course or discipline for graduation. There is not any benefit provided to a particular course. So,for civil services exam, you need to do well in any stream of your interest in graduation.
UPSC conducts various exams for civil services, engineering services, defense services and many more every year in India. UPSC conducts civil services exam in order to recruit personnel to the posts like IAS,IPS,IFS,IRS etc. The eligibility criteria required for civil services exam are as under:- -The candidate should be an Indian. -The candidate should have completed graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university. -The age limit to apply for the exam is from 21 years to 30 years for general category. There is relaxation in upper age limit by 3 years for OBC candidates and 5 years for SC/ST candidates. -The no. of attempts for the exam is 4 times for general category under the creamy layer,7 times for OBC candidates and no limits for SC/ST candidates. -The exam process involves *Preliminary Exam *Main exam *Personality Interview. |

Re: Doing mass communication as graduation course will benefit for qualifying IAS exams?
For civil services, there is no restriction that you have any particular stream. You can choose any of the subjects for graduation.
Qualification for IAS/Civil services: Candidate should have graduation in any stream with minimum 55% marks from a recognized university. There is no benefit of mass communication for IAS exam. The syllabus is totally different in the civil examination. So you can choose any of the subjects and in mass communication, there are so many options for the job in private as well as in government sector. IAS exam conducted in three stages: Preliminary exam Mains exam Interview So if you want to appear for IAS exam in future then you have to start preparing as soon as possible. That will give you benefit and help to get a good score. |
