Yes, you can go for the training now if you wish. Basically people go for summer internship in their last year of course, but there is no hard and fast rule like that. If you wish you can and should opt for it.

Mainly the students go for the training after the completion if 6th semester. But if you wish than you can apply in 1st year also.

You can apply for the training in software companies like in TCS, HCL, etc.

I suggest you to apply for the training after the completion of 2nd year of b.tech so at that time you will be more able to understand the things more quickly.
