What are the options other than MBBS and BDS after completing 12th?


Sir/Mam,

I have completed my 12th std nd now i have taken drop nd doing coaching for mbbs but there should be some more alternates other than mbbs so sir i want to ask about other courses which i can do if i'll not get gov. Seat for mbbs.?

You can choose from following courses other than MBBS and BDS.

1. B.Pharm (Bachelor of Pharmacy) – 4 years

2. B.Sc Nursing – 4 years

3. B.P.T (Physiotherapy) – 4.5 years

4. B.O.T (Occupational Therapy) – 3 years

5. B.U.M.S (Unani Medicine) – 5.5 years

6. D.Pharm (Ayurvedic, Siddha Medicine) – 2 years

7. BMLT (Bachelor of Medical Lab Technicians) – 3 year

8. DMLT (Diploma of Medical Lab Technicians) – 1 year

9. Bachelor in Optometry - 4 years duration

Yes there are many courses other than MBBS and BDS after 12th medical stream.But before going to opt it, It is better to know about those courses.

* B.H.M.S (Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery) :

Applicant should have passed HSC exam from any statutory board/University in india or equivalence.
COURSE - 5.5 years.

* B.A.M.S (Bachelor of Ayuvedic Medicine and Surgery) :

This Degree is awarded to those student who have completed his medicine in Ayurveda system in India.The Ayurvedic Education in India is presently controlled by Central Council of Indian Medicine(CCIM).
COURSE - 5.5 years.

* B.Pharm (Bachelor of Pharmacy) :

The candidate must have passed 12th class with Physics/Mathematics as one of the compulsory subject or D.Pharm(Diploma in Pharmacy) which gives the knowlege on Pharmacy.
COURSE - 4 years.

* M.D (Doctor of Medicine) :

This degree is awarded to Physicians. The Candidates who have completed MBBS are eligible to do this course.
COURSE - 3 years.

* M.S (Master of Surgery) :

This degree is awarded to the students who master the course in surgery. The minimum eligibility for this course is MBBS
COURSE - 3 years.

* B.P.T (Bachelor of Physiotherapy) :

Applicant must have passed 12th class with minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
COURSE- 4.5 years.

Bsc. is also a good alternate by taking any major subject because after your completion of degree you can go for various entrances by which you can make your career.

There are many other courses available in India other than MBBS and BDS but they will not have that must good scope as of those MBBS and BDS have.

However the list of courses other than MBBS and BDS are as follows.

1.Doctor of Medicine(M.D.)-The span of this course is 3 years,

2.Dental Hygienist Medical Course-The span of this course is 2 years,

3.Radiological Assistant-The span of this course is 1 year,

4.Nuclear Medicine Technology-The span of this course is 2 years,

5.Bachelor of Occupationaltherapy-The span of this course if 3 years,


6.Master of Surgery(M.S.)-The span of this course is 3 years,

7.Doctorate in Medicine(D.M.)-The span of this course varies from 2 to 3 years,

8.Bachelor of Pharmacy(B.pharm)-The span of this course is 4 years,

9.B.Sc Nursing-The span of this course is 4 years,

10.Diploma of Medical Lab Technicians(DMLT)-The span of this course is 1 year,

11.Dental Mechanic Medical course-The span of this course is 2 years,

Hii sir, I cmpleted inter with 95% appeared for eamcet badly jst got nly 95 marks and rank locally is 7000 and ovrall rank is 15000 no matter of I studying MBBS wid this rank but I love to do it dropping an year may give me bad reviews nd a large stress from people surrounding me So plzzz advice me the best option for my carrer to build up without any reviews frm others and myself to withstand
