Becoming a Company Secretary (CS) is an excellent career choice for those interested in corporate governance, legal compliance, and company law. The training for the CS program typically involves three stages:

Foundation Program
Executive Program
Professional Program.
To become a Company Secretary, you must complete all three levels of the program and undergo practical training as well. Here are the steps to join Company Secretary training:

Register with the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI): To start your journey towards becoming a Company Secretary, you need to register with the ICSI by filling out an online application form and paying the registration fee.

Enroll in the Foundation Program: After registering with ICSI, you can enroll in the Foundation Program, which is the first stage of the CS program. This program lasts for 8 months and covers the basics of company law, economics, and accounting.

Enroll in the Executive Program: After completing the Foundation Program and passing the exam, you can enroll in the Executive Program, which is the second stage of the CS program. This program lasts for 9 months and covers advanced topics such as corporate law, management, and taxation.

Practical Training: After clearing the Executive Program, you will be eligible to undertake practical training as a part of the 15-month long training. During this period, students have to work under the supervision of a practicing Company Secretary or any other professional approved by the ICSI.

Complete the Professional Program: Once you complete the practical training, you can enroll in the Professional Program, which is the final stage of the CS program. The program lasts for 10 months and covers advanced topics such as corporate governance, strategic management, and ethics.

After completing all three levels of the program and undergoing practical training, you will be eligible to apply for membership with the ICSI and become a qualified Company Secretary.
