Yes, you can do M.Tech after completing your MCS. I would prefer you to do M.Tech when compared to M.Phil and PhD. There are wide varieties of opportunities after M.Tech.

From the GATE official website http://www.gate.iitd.ac.in/ eligibility criteria is defined as,

• Candidate must have completed Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology/Architecture or might be pursuing their final year.
• Candidate must have Masters in Mathematics/Science/Computer Applications or might be pursuing their final year.

List of Colleges to pursue M.Tech:

• IIT Guwahati
• IIT Roorkey
• IIT Kanpur
• IIT Patna
• IIT Madras
• NIT surat
• NIT Warangal

Syllabus for GATE for MCS Candidates:

• Engineering Mathematics
• Liner Algebra
• Numerical Methods
• Computer Organization and Architecture
• Programming and Data Structure
• Algorithms
• Compiler Design
• Operating System
• Computer Networks
• Web Technologies

If your ultimate aim is Ph.D, then go for Ph.D right after MCA course. No point in wasting your time in doing M.Tech and M.Phil program. If you qualify UGC NET, then it will be good for your career, as it will make your eligible for lecturer posts in government colleges and also for Ph.D admission in most top universities.

Most of the top universities give Ph.D admission to candidates having a valid NET score without any entrance exam. For NET you must have 55% marks in MCA from a recognized university.
