Sir/Mam,

I have completed M.com in 1984 from Magadh university, Bihar with 48% , Now i have shifted from Bihar to gujarat in 1994. I am interested to do PhD in any discipline means any subject. can i do through distance from any university in india. or i have to do M.com again to increase my marks as i have heard 55% is must for PhD admission. so if you have any guidelines please tell me.

You have completed M.Com degree with 48% so you are not eligible for Ph.D degree.

Eligibility criteria for Ph.D course:-

1)Those candidates who have completed post graduation degree from a recognized university with above 55% marks are eligible for Ph.D course.

2)There is no age criteria for Ph.D course.

Note:- UGC NET/CSIR NET/GATE score is essential for Ph.D course.

According to UGC guidelines you must have at least 55% marks for getting admission in a Ph.D program regular or distance mode. There is no concession if you want to take admission in a distance mode Ph.D program.

For reserved category candidates 50% marks is the requirement after relaxation in marks. Therefore, you can only become eligible when you fulfill this percentage criteria.
