Eligibility for PhD in English Literature:- You must have done Masters in English Literature with atleast 55% marks from recognized Indian institution. There is no upper age criteria to apply for this course.

So, you are eligible for the course.

Few colleges, I can suggest you are

>>Christ University
>>Amity Institute of English Studies and Research
>>Central University Of Haryana
>>University of Delhi
>>University of Goa
>>Centre of English Studies
>>IGNOU
>>Assam University
>>Osmania University
>>Andhra University
>>University of Madras
>>University of Calcutta

You can appear for National Eligibility Test which is conducted twice in a year by UGC for lectureship eligibility and Ph.D admission at top research institutions in India. It is conducted twice in a year. There is no negative marking applicable. You will have to answer three papers namely Paper I, Paper II, Paper III. The total allotted marks is 350. You will have maximum of 100 marks each for first two papers. All the questions are of objective type.

You have completed MA in English with 64% so you are eligible for Ph.D in English Literature but you should qualify in UGC NET exam.

NET stands for National Eligibility Test which is conducted twice time in year by UGC.

Those candidates who have completed masters degree from a recognized university are eligible for NET exam. General and OBC candidates should hold 55% and above marks in masters degree. For SC/ST candidate its 50% and above in masters degree.

Age criteria for NET exam:-

For JRF Post :-Your age should be below 28 years.

For Lectureship Post :-There is no age criteria.
Do you have any question? or have anything to say?
