If you have qualify in GATE exam then you can apply for Ph.D through GATE score. Maximum number of universities considered GATE or UGC NET score card. So don't go to M.Phil course. It will better for you to go for GATE entrance exam.

If you have got GATE score in Biochemistry subjects then surely you can use it for admission in Ph.D program. Most of the top Universities give admission in the basis of NET/SLET/GATE/JRF qualification to those who have Master's degree with at least 55% marks. For reserved category candidates 50% marks in required for Ph.D admission. Therefore, no need to go for M.Phil if you have GATE score. You only have to appear for interview for getting admission in Ph.D course.
Do you have any question? or have anything to say?
