Can I get admission in IIT for Ph.D Chemical Engineering programme on M.Tech basis?

Dear sir/madam,
I am currently pursuing my M.tech in chemical engineering and would like to admit myself in PhD in the same feild but preferably from an IIT. I am having a CGPA of 8.2 currently, although i have not qualified GATE. Thus i would like to know whether i am eligible to get in to an IIT on the basis of my M.Tech marks. Thanks in advance.

Admission in IITs for Ph.D is surely possible after M.Tech, but for getting shortlisted for interview stage, you need to have excellent academic record.

If you have qualified exams like GATE, NET, SET, JRF, etc, then you have good chance of getting shortlisted for interview stage. If you still want to apply for admission without GATE, then gain some professional experience in your field, which will add to your CV.
Do you have any question? or have anything to say?
