How being a Junior Research Fellow could help for admission in PhD?


hi..m pursuing my m.pharm in pharmacology..i have been offered a post for research fellow which is termed for 3 years... but i want to do phd...so what should i opt for first ..a research fellow or phd?? and how being a research fellow could help for admission in phd??? looking forward...thank you
