my query is that
i m Fr. Swamy a catholic priest aspiring to become a scientist and a researcher in the field of GIS GPS and Remote sensing and its applications

i have doing my M.Sc final Year in Geography in University of Madras

i will be completing my course i n 2012 June.

i want to continue my studies in this field especially doing Phd in this area
i want scholarship which can support my sutudies as well as i need some monthly stipend from the institute or university.

if it is also Part time Phd with these facilities i would be much happy.

kindly help

if not in this field, the related fields can be
Environmental degradation
climate change
earthquake volcanoes and its disasters
cosmology
planetary scineces ( Mars, jupiter etc its mapping & interpretation)
diaster management & its impact etc
evolutionary planets & its climatic conditions
life on other planets

First of all you must pass your Master's in Geography with at least 55% marks from a recognized University, then you have to apply for CSIR NET. If you are able to qualify CSIR NET with a good score, then there are very good opportunities for your in the field of research.

You can opt for Environmental Sciences subjects in the CSIR NET. Therefore, you must strat preparing for this subjects from now on because clearing CSIR NET is very essential, if you want to get scholarships for your research program.

After clearing CSIR NET you can apply for Junior Research Fellowships which will provide you good exposure with stipend during research program. Candidates who have undergone JRF have greater chance of getting admission in Ph.D program.

There is age limit for JRF which is 28 years, therefore, you must clear CSIR NET before this age to get Junior Research Fellowships. The CSIR NET score will be valid for only 2 years. You can also use your CSIR NET score for getting Lecturer jobs in government colleges.
