Is it mandatory to take the same subject which we take in PG as specialization in Ph.D?


I have done my msc from zoology and specialization in msc with fisheries but i want to do my phd specialization with endocrinology so is it possible or not..?? Can you please guide me on this? It will be really helpful if you can answer me soon. Thank you!

It is not mandatory that you have to take the same subject for PhD which you have taken in your post graduation. But it is always advised to the candidates that they should take the same subject which they have taken in post graduation as it will be easier for their further studies. But if you are good in other subject then you can pursue with that subject. Thanks

Admission in Ph.D will be on the basis of your PG degree, so taking the same specialisation is absolutely necessary. You can't research in a subject, which you haven't studied at all.

So, you have to opt for a topic which is related to your field of study in one way or the other. There is no other way about it.

I am sorry to say that you cannot pursue Ph.D in Endocrinology as you have completed your Masters degree in Zoology.
Candidates those who have completed their Masters degree in Zoology from a recognised University with a minimum of 55% of marks in it are eligible to pursue Ph.D in Zoology.

No, it is not mandatory that you will have to take the same subject in PhD course which you had opted for in your PG course. You can opt for some other specialization as well.

I had completed my master degree in computer application but i have 10 years of experience in Textile field. I want to do Ph.D in Textile is it possible in India. Please guide me.
