For maths assistant professor job you need to crack NET/SET/GATE in the given subject. In government colleges those who have qualified NET/SET are considered for permanent job as professor.

In case of private colleges your credentials will play a role in selection. If you are fresher then your GATE score will play important role in getting the job.
