Employee retention means holding back the employees from leaving the company. This is done to reduce the attrition rate of the company and have a balances working environment structure. Various companies have different scheme of retention. Some extend the notice period, some provide hikes, some initiate visa, some provide promotion, etc. It depends on the resource and his/her supervisor and manager as to what measures will be taken for retaining him/her if necessary.
