There are five questions in the question paper, each carrying ten marks and having internal choice. The questions are purely theoretical based and require a lot of writing and presentation of information. Some of the important topics for the examination and common questions are explain the scheme of division of power between state and centre in matters of justice administration and the relevance of such a division in the face of threats such as Naxalite movements or terrorism, overview of the organization of criminal courts in India, the role of the judicial magistrate in safeguarding the rights of the accused, initiatives taken by the United Nations in formulating and laying down standards for the maintenance of human rights in the area of criminal justice administration, critically evaluating the role of important non-governmental organizations in popularizing standards relating to criminal justice administration, and the manners in which international human rights norms are implemented in India.
